{BLACKHAWK MINISTRIES} Legacy Luncheon and Hymn Sing

Blackhawk Ministries | Luncheon and Hymn Sing | August 28, 2022 | 12:30pm

Everyone loves a good classic… and what a treat it was for the Blackhawk Ministries Legacy group this past Sunday, they enjoyed food, fellowship and singing classic hymns together!

The definition of classic ~ judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind

As you can see by the large group that gathered, hymns, classic songs will never go out of style! I have been at Blackhawk over 35 years, so I have experienced all different kinds of music styles and worship music, just at Blackhawk alone. The deep meaning and words of hymns will forever be with me and I am so grateful for the Legacy group(and Rick Huls who led) for the afternoon of worship. It amazes me how the words came so easily, even after years of not singing particular hymns, I still knew all the words… I hope my children have more opportunity to learn and sing hymns, so that throughout the years they have truth and words to meditate on as they navigate life while serving Him. In our home, we have music playing 80% of the time(For King and Country is on repeat along with TobyMac, JordanFeliz and the famous WBCL), but now I will be incorporating more hymns into the mix now! Thanks for the reminder of how meaningful and how deep hymns are as we praise and worship our Lord!

A little food and dessert never hurt a get-together…

Not only was the music “classic” and enjoyable, but these friendly faces are the heart of Blackhawk and simply CLASSIC. Some of them have been at Blackhawk since I was a baby in the nursery and others have joined Blackhawk in recent years, but all of them LOVE Jesus and they are leaving a legacy and example for the next generations – showing us how to be the hands and feet of Jesus AND how to keep the Hymns alive! 😉

What is your favorite hymn? I have several that just resonate with me and are “just classic”. How Great Thou Art. Blessed Assurance. Victory in Jesus. Amazing Grace. In the Garden – the hymn we, the grandchildren, sang at my Grandma Barbs funeral(I can’t wait to “tarry there” too Gma!)

What a treat to have Rick Huls lead in the hymn sing and Shelia McFarland on the piano!

BIG THANKS to all who made this luncheon and hymn sing possible! So many planned and served for this event and it was enjoyed by all! I hope you don’t wait too long for another hymn sing!
