As an event photographer, I get asked often to photograph many different kinds of events and fundraisers. Some organizations I have a more personal connection too – like A Kid Again – Indiana Chapter. A Kid Again provides children with life-threatening conditions/illnesses adventures, events and experiences at a local location at no cost to them. Their mission is to “Give illness a time out” They invite siblings and parents to attend also for a family experience and memory that they might not be able to do otherwise. This will be our second event with A Kid Again since Jonathan, my 5-year-old, was diagnosed with cancer. I am honored to be asked to photograph this event and the families attending! Capturing smiles, laughter, and memories of families while they “give illness a time out” is an honor!

The weather forecast for our adventure evening didn’t look good – rain was predicted and looked like it was going to be spotty and not 100%, so the game started as scheduled and the rain came as predicted. It was spotty for a bit, then around the 4th inning it didn’t subside, so they paused and ultimately cancelled the game. Tincaps won! My kids were disappointed that they weren’t able to do the post-game fireworks.

I did my best to walk around before the game started and a bit during the game, to photograph all “A Kid Again Families”, sorry if I missed you. Unfortunately, the rain put hinderance on me being able to photograph as long as I would have normally. It was a pleasure meeting all of you!
